Not colonial
Why is this article classed as "Danish colonial conflicts"? Trade conflict, I could understand - but Denmark never tried to colonise the Barbary coast territories. Her activities here were an attempt to project power to achieve better protection of her merchantmen. The same comments will apply to the Action of 16 May 1797 article.
Analogies can be drawn with some events in British history where the fleet, or a gunboat, was sent to intimidate the locals without any attempt to establish a colony. Agree/Disagree? comment? Viking1808 (talk) 18:57 and 21:31, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Viking1808: I agree. While the violation of the peace treaty is considered as the cause of this conflict, the treaty itself was all about trade. M.Bitton (talk) 20:35, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
