Cognitive restructuring is actually contested a great deal in the literature (Academic pscyh journals). Someone should edit this page to make that clear. -Montreal Psycho 29-7-2008

The original article that was here shows up at Answers.com. if you want to see it. I merged the original with an article I'm currently researching on the subject. (oops, I forgot to log in!)... - FreedomWorks! 5 Oct 2006

As both a patient undergoing this and a student of psychiatry, I agree in general that this is a bad edit to the page; i am removing it User:badboyjamie 22 oct 2009

a little self promotion

a link has been conveniently added to utah-based ACCI's web page

perhaps they are world famous for their groundbreaking CBT work and deserve to be referenced over beck, burns, ellis et al but i sorta doubt it Thriver7 (talk) 18:04, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Irrelevant Information

The current page had many sentences and paragraphs that were not on topic, and thus deleted, including:

  • the description: "sometimes used synonymously with Debating" = REASON: the use of the word 'debate' in the context of cognitive structuring is very rare
  • the explanation of defusion = REASON: This explanation belongs in its own article about what defusion is, not in an article about cognitive restructuring. I understood that the writer's intent was to criticize CR, so I shortened the paragraph to be only about criticisms and added some more criticisms, though this section could be expanded upon
  • the entire section 'Learning and cognitive restructuring = REASON: the meaning of this section was obscure, and the references in this section predate CR (!) so how could they possibly be about CR?
  • the final very long quote about a therapist's experience with CR = REASON: the use of such a long quote about what CR is only points out the fact that the article is inadequate. I shortened the quote and added the relevant information to other sections.ShalonSims (talk) 03:37, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

I propose merging the page Cognitive reframing into this page. Both have similar content and from a quick research it looks the terms are used interchangeably with "restructuring" being more common. Daniel Souza (talk) 07:24, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
