Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on January 22, 2008.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ...that Othniel Charles Marsh named two species of the dinosaur Coelurus from the same quarry, not knowing that the bones belonged to the same skeleton?

GA review

It's close to FA. The sources look reliable, and inludes some modern ones. I guess the lack of detail about the animal bacause not much is known about it, so having so much taxonomy is understandable. Can't spot any WP:MOS or neutrality problems.

Things to fix

  • you ought to state on the illustration's page from which dinosaurs (or what publication) you have inferred that the three fingers are equally long and the head is big, since the linked source says it had a short thumbs and the head was small and dog-like.
  • Fastovsky and Smith has no year or isbn
  • but he and others have not since found this result they haven't found what? monophyly?

Other comments

  • Miles et al 1998 lacks title
  • should semilunate carpal link to Lunate bone, or is it something else?
  • The Coelurus, Ornitholestes, and Tanycolagreus section is a bit hard to read despite having uncomplicated content
  • a stub explaining gallery forest would help

Okay, that shouldn't be too hard.
  • It's an older restoration, so I'll suggest that someone makes an update.
  • I'd left them off because The Dinosauria volume had already been cited, but if you prefer, I'll put it in full.
  • They hadn't found the result of compsognathids in the same family as Coelurus.
  • Oops, forgot it.
  • The semilunate in theropods hasn't been pinned down as far as I know (it's a fusion of two carpals), so how about the term just links to carpus until I can find something authoritative?
  • I'll have a look at it.
  • I'm not a botanist, but I'll see what I can do; there may be an alternate term in use on WP already. The basic concept in the source cited is forests lining rivers. (actually, when I put it like that, it might be simpler to just write "river-lining forests") J. Spencer (talk) 01:19, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The text is fine now, and I like all your recent changes to it. I'll wait and see what happens to the illustration; the current seems to use elements from Tanycolagreus, but you found a paper with a different idea of Coelurus anatomy. Narayanese (talk) 20:01, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Since it may take some time to get a replacement image, would it make sense to remove the taxobox image until then? J. Spencer (talk) 23:31, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a skeletal restoration; the little guy was all legs and vertebral column. J. Spencer (talk) 23:39, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's one long tail! With the taxobox image being dubious, I guess it's better to leave it out for the time being and hope readers see the external link. Narayanese (talk) 01:06, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. There are several artists associated with Wikiproject:Dinosaurs, so I don't think it will be lacking for too long. J. Spencer (talk) 01:34, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
