Some suggestions for improvement as the article is expanded:

  • Template:Infobox Scientist should be added
  • Photograph should be added from a source with a free license
  • Some basic biographical information required eg dates for education
  • Lead sentence needs expanding into introduction
  • Article should be divided into appropriate subheadings
  • Information on research should be expanded
  • List of key academic papers would be interesting
  • References should be expanded and preferably converted to inline format
  • External links present which could be used to expand article

Euthanasia

On May 4, 2013, 95 year old De Duve ended his life through euthanasia, which is legal in Belgium. On April 8, 2013 he had announced his intention to do so in an intervieuw with Le Soir. See the following newsarticles about his death in both French and Dutch (I cannot find any English language articles yet):

de Duve's books

This is not a book from de Duve:

  • Right, he must have contributed foreword/preface or something to it. I removed it from the list. Chhandama (talk) 15:20, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Religious beliefs" section

He strongly supported biological evolution as a fact, and dismissive of creation science and intelligent design, as explicitly stated in his last book, Genetics of Original Sin: The Impact of Natural Selection on the Future of Humanity. He was among the seventy-eight Nobel laureates in science to endorse the effort to repeal the Louisiana Science Education Act of 2008.[73]

Those are not religious beliefs. It's just the default position for a competent scientist. --Hob Gadling (talk) 10:46, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, the sentence should be removed from this section. The only question is where it should be placed instead? Global Cerebral Ischemia (talk) 12:05, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
