Was this School named after Lord Cherwell, Frederick Lindemann, 1st Viscount Cherwell? AllanHainey 15:21, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know for certain, but the River Cherwell is less than a mile away, so it's probably named after that. --Squiddy | (squirt ink?) 13:29, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I was living in Oxford when the school opened as the local secondary modern - with a reputation for being "rough" very quickly established.

The River Cherwell runs close by, and that is the derivation of the name of the school. Oxford City Council archives would prove it, I am sure.G N Frykman 17:40, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Correct, the River is the source of the name. And as for rough, it's not remotely as bad as Peers School...Lukasa 19:05, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Popular" Chutney magazine

I don't know if this really deserves to be mentioned. As far as I can remember, only about two issues were ever produced, and I don't think it counts as a school newspaper, or even a "dominant publication". --Quentin72

Notable Alumni

Twice now someone (likely the same person) has added

  1. Ellie Rendle a comedienne
  2. Emma Smith a comedienne

to the Notable Alumni. First, Emma Smith follows wiki to a non-comedienne woman of history. Second, Ellie Rendle hits absolutely nothing to do with comedy or stage performance of any kind on a google search.

If you are adamant about them being notable alumni, you're going to have to cite where the noteriety is evidently coming from. Otherwise, I'm going to keep treating this as two juveniles fantasizing about having their name on the school's wiki page. ju66l3r 03:36, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was under the impression that Yannis Philippakis went to Magdalen College School. Can someone clear this up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Heracles2008 (talkcontribs) 16:52, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
