Talk:Canadian property bubble

I think first and foremost, this sentence needs to be corrected to make sense (currently it does not) or, better yet, omitted entirely as prices certainly did not decline to that degree nor was it predicted they would (or at least not from a source that would be worthy of quoting):

"Starting in February 2022, prices started to decline rapidly as the Bank of Canada hiked interest rates culminating in detached prices to decline by $400,000 in the Greater Toronto Area by September of 2022." 206.108.31.34 (talk) 18:48, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Totally agree, and I find that the claim that the drop is caused solely by the higher interest rates is questionable too. It’s not a good idea to claim that a bubble has burst until several years after the fact. Safyrr 17:09, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the input, I modified the sentence so it hopefully makes sense now and I moved it out of the summary at the beginning (I think that's where it was before) to the relevant timepoint in the full article. I appreciate that there could be better sources like Stats Can, etc., but I wasn't able to find GTA-specific stats there, please modify the source if you find a better one. This market update doesn't seem too bad. Thegouj (talk) 20:52, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
