wrong map

The article currently has a political map of the three prairie provinces. But this article is on the geological area, not the political area. And the map should reflect that. -- Geo Swan 23:21, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Geological history

I think adding the geological history of the plains would be beneficial. I don't know it at all, just thought it would add something to the article that most other canadian geographical areas' articles have. History section

I'm going to start a history section here to combine some of the duplication that has shown up on History of Alberta, History of Saskatchewan, and History of Manitoba. I want to cover everything that happened before those provinces cam into being (in a general sense) and leave the specifics up to those individial artcles, as well as Rupert's Land, North-Western Territory, and History of Northwest Territories. Hopefully we will cover the topic well enough that it can eventually be split off into its own article called History of the Canadian Northwest or something similar. Adding Wpg & s'toon skylines to population chart

The census metropolitan areas in the Canadian Prairies chart has a picture of both Edmonton & Calgary but not of Winnipeg nor Saskatoon. I have added Winnipeg and Saskatoon skyline pictures but they should probably be in the chart as Edmonton and Calgary already are. I don't know how to so if someone who knows how to add them then that would be great.

The template also does not have a photo of Regina yet one of Regina was not added.

Notwithstanding, looking at the template, it doesn't appear there is much room to add more photos beyond the existing two. I also notice this article is the only location in which this template is in use. Makes me think that a table embedded within the article would better than having a separate template for use only on this article.

I'm going to experiment with the template for now by removing the Calgary and Edmonton photos. Afterwards, I may create a table within this article to replace the template and then nominate the template for deletion. Hwy43 (talk) 04:33, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

British Columbia

Unless there is a source that can be added with regard to prairie in British Columbia I will remove this from the lead as it is misrepresenting boreal plains as a prairie biome. Don't quite understand the issue. A quick gander using Google Earth reveals that the prairie landscape in northwest Alberta's Peace Country doesn't end at the provincial border. It extends into northeast British Columbia from south of Dawson Creek to north of Fort St. John with farmland reaching west to the vicinities of Chetwynd and Hudson's Hope. It should be easy to find a source that acknowledges these realities.
This map shows how the Prairie Region extends into northeast BC generally covering the area I just described above. From a slightly different perspective there is what is called the Central Plains ecozone.
So what I am seeing, from the natural definition perspective, is the Canadian Prairies generally comprises the boreal plains in addition to the parkland prairies and grassland prairies. Hwy43 (talk) 07:08, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalization of "prairie provinces"?
