Magoun Square, Somerville isn't correct, right?

I added some wiki-links but something looks amiss. It says this road began from what is today the Longfellow Bridge (which carries the Red Line) and travels towards Harvard Square intersecting with Hampshire Street along the way. If- you draw a line from the Longfellow Bridge to Harvard Square you can come up with Broadway/Hampshire Streets in Cambridge. The current Magoun Square in Somerville is far from both of those but it *too* has a "Broadway" running through that square. If you use Google Maps, in order to get seek the one in Somerville, it means that somehow the road would have had to swing from Kendal Square sharp right toward McGrath Highway. If that were true, something like East Cambridge's Grand Junction Railroad and Depot Company could have been the path in that case??? But I don't see one from that square, back to Harvard Square easily? Many of the oldest roads' layouts seem to argue against Magoun Sq, Somerville? Furthermore Broadway, Somerville starts from below 93. (Perhaps it was re-aligned?) But there toois an even bigger jump from Kendall Square in order to arrive back at Harvard Sq, Cambridge. So common-sense makes me wonder if there was a second Magoun Sq. in Cambridge? CaribDigita (talk) 16:35, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Right, it can't be correct. The 1919 map shows no such excursion into Somerville, and a direct route from today's Kendall Sq. to the intersection with Hampshire St. (about half a mile) is commonsense. (The Middlesex Tpke. article says, referring to that turnpike, "As was the practice of that time, the road was as straight as possible".) Perhaps one of the references or an old map would give or confirm a former name for the intersection in question. For now, I have unlinked it from the Somerville Magoun Sq. article. Two years later, an astute editor has identified the intersection as Mechanics Square, with citation. Hertz1888 (talk) 06:28, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
