Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.
date of establishment
The Calhoun County website says the county was established in 1829 rather than 1833. BenedictX 09:15, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- The county was set off (that is lines were drawn on a map and given a name) in 1829. But it was attached for administrative purposes first to St. Joseph County and then to Kalamazoo. A separate Calhoun County government was not organized until 1833. I'll see if I can dig up a good source for this. This site gives a good overview. older ≠ wiser 12:25, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
