Removed dead link.

Conformité Européenne?

http://europa.eu.int/eur-lex/pri/en/oj/dat/2000/ce203/ce20320000718en00260028.pdf (via http://europa.eu.int/eur-lex/lex/JOHtml.do?uri=OJ:C:2000:203E:SOM:EN:HTML ) seems to imply that "Conformité Européenne" is not incorrect. - Brewthatistrue 1 July 2005 22:51 (UTC)

Say what?

From the article:

"By affixing the CE marking, the manufacturer, its authorized representative, or person placing the product on the market or putting it into service asserts that the item meets all the essential requirements of all applicable been applied."

It asserts that the item meets all the essential requirements of all applicable what? ColmCille (talk) 00:44, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

False

example of fake CE mark. The real one:
http://www.cemarking.net/alura_xl_com/cf60e098bf2d4c1edea0575373ce07a1.php
with C and E far, and the fake with CE packed as China Export:
http://www.searchgate.com/Aware_China_Export_mark_v4816390/
http://resources.alibaba.com/article/4113/Counterfeiting_in_China_common_practices_and_cures.htm
http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=297120
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Export_Porcelain
On google a lot of forum has users decribing this fake

Not one of these sources can be considered reliable, and they all seem to ultimately refer to a claim by Zuzana Roithová,
a Czech member of the European Parliament. The answer of the EU Commission to her question
states that "The Commission is not aware of the existence of a ‘China export mark’". If there were actual cases of this
claim one would think that the Commission would be the first to hear and legal suits against importers would have been made.
Given that Ms. Roithová has an interest in making this story seem real, and appear as fighting against chinese imports
(a popular theme among European conservatives), I am removing this claim as it appears to be a hoax, and this
article is often a part of it.79.103.250.164 (talk) 18:48, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

I agree that removing the presentation context of this article is correct, but removing it in its entirety is not necessary. It should be noted that counterfeit CE marks do occur (if in fact, this is sourceable), that a Czech politician made statements on the China Export and that the European parliament has commented on this as well. I've lost count of the number of components I've gotten from China with the narrowed "China Export" marking. When I press vendors for their CE certificate of compliance, I get the response that it is China Export and that none is required for that. For some reason powerbricks/powersupplies : Mains to DC seem to be the worst offenders. 75.144.28.77 (talk) 18:57, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Oops?

New to Wiki today (well yesterday). I've made some changes to this page but should've floated the them here first. Hope I haven't trodden on toes... Ajem (talk) 01:41, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Date of Introduction

When was the mark introduced, and was it gradual or across the board? The Yowser (talk) 14:51, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Something wrong...

"STEP 7 : Affix "CE Mark" on the product.Everybody need to check this mark on electrical appliances." This is improper punctuation, let alone grammar for an encyclopedia article. Someone more qualified should fix it. Also, "However, the "China Export" mark doesn't exist," has a contraction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.243.209.79 (talk) 01:55, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Fixed, see above under False. 75.144.28.77 (talk) 18:58, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Change "CE Mark" to "CE marking"

The official EC definition is the <CE Marking>. Therefore, it would make more sense to changing it also on the wikipedia page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rob Beckert (talkcontribs) 14:42, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Self Declaration

I don't think there's any general obligation for Module 'A' procedure to involve a third-party for assessment. See for example http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2004:390:0024:0037:EN:PDF page 32. Kim SJ (talk) 13:42, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
