Describes a woman

It says:

"A butch cut is commonly used to describe a woman..."

It's a haircut. The word "butch" may describe some kinds of woman; it may also describe some kinds of man. But a butch cut is a haircut.

I propose to delete this LGBT stuff.

Name of article should be reverted to butch cut

Not really sure when this article was renamed brush cut from its historically correct name and name here on wikipedia since its creation over a decade ago of butch cut. A brush cut is a longer butch cut. A burr is a shorter butch cut. A butch can be called a short brush cut.

The reason a longer butch cut is called a brush cut is because when the short upright hair on the top of the head is at least around 1/2" = #4 Guard or longer, the top hair resembles the bristle surface of a brush. This is also why a crew cut can be called a brush cut. Most brushes do not have bristles less than 1/2" in length, hence a butch less than 1/2" is a short brush cut.

Likewise the reason a short butch is called a burr is because when the hair is cut that short, less than 1/4", for coarser hair, it can feel rough when the hand brushes the hair against the grain and for finer hair can feel soft. One definition of burr is an area of roughness produced when cutting metal. Another definition is soft fibers in wool.

And a butch haircut for "women who are masculine" is not the same as a butch or brush cut for a man or boy:

It is also erroneous to state that "Brush cuts are traditionally groomed with hair control wax, commonly referred to as brush wax." Have never seen any control wax marketed or referred to as brush wax.
