bog woods from non-peat bogs

The article mentions bog woods as coming from peat bogs, but I do not believe that to always be the case. The Kauri mentioned is not in peat bog, but more of a swamp like the everglades (I don't recall ever hearing of New Zealand having any peat to speak of). Bog wood can come from any Bog-like environment. some are buried in sediment layers at the bottoms of lakes and rivers. Woodfanatic (talk) 17:36, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article contains many passages lifted verbatim from its main reference, http://yellowsealzf.com/, currently ref #1. Such usage does not constitute writing an article. When a commercial website written in a Slavic language is translated into English, and portions pasted into Wikipedia, that does not constitute "writing an article."

Sources

When an article's sources consist primarily of commercial websites, it affects the balance (and therefore quality) of the article. Certain aspects of the article's subject are covered in depth, to the exclusion of other aspects of bog-wood. In this case, bog-wood is depicted as only existing in Europe (and Australasia, by implication, e.g., Agathis is mentioned). The commercial website yellowsealzf.com/, forming the basis of this article, is located in Serbia, which narrows the article's scope. Not unexpectedly, the article focuses on bog-wood as a human trade commodity and raw material for human use. Whereas bog-wood might have some utility to historians, dendrochronologists and earth scientists, such utilization is only mentioned briefly and in passing.
