Talk:Binding constant

[Untitled]

An article on this special case of the equilibrium constant seems to me justified because of the importance of BC in molecular biology and biochemistry. Future extent may include the concept of molecular recognition and affinity.

Copyedit status?

Apart from the math, which I don't pretend to understand, the English of the article seems fine with regards to spelling and grammar. Perhaps this article should be removed of its copyedit tag, to let the wikify tag suffice? --Arkeides 21:04, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ideal Gas Constant

Why is affinity of proteins an ligands calculated here with a formula "Gibbs Free Energy" in which the ideal gas constant R is used. Proteins and ligands are not gases since they reside in aqueous cytoplasm or in the lipid membrane. I would consider to shorten this article, and after having stated that Kb (or Ka) is the inverse of Kd (dissociation constant) make a link and refer to the Kd page that is better developed and has more information.
