A redirect was created from Australian and New Zealand Society of Indexers to Society of Indexers, but these are two different organisations, although the Australian one was preceded by an Australian branch of the UK society.CalRhiannon (talk) 09:38, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CalRhiannon (talk) 23:05, 28 March 2009 (UTC)Evidence for being the first society It was noted that the Walker article did not give evidence that AusSI was the first society to have a web indexing award. This was probably because it was written at the time, and wasn't looking backwards. I have added the Web Indexing SIG as evidence that AusSI was the first. It doesn't note this explicitly, but does say:[reply]

Australian and New Zealand Society of Indexers Web Indexing Award

From 1996 to 2006 the Australian Society of Indexers (AusSI), and later the Australian and New Zealand Society of Indexers (ANZSI), awarded a web indexing prize or award to the best web site index submitted. In 2006 ANZSI decided not to continue with the ANZSI Web Indexing Award as a standalone item.

Given that it mentions no other award, the implication (and fact) is that AusSI was first. CalRhiannon (talk) 12:36, 16 April 2009 (UTC)The Web Indexing SIG page now explicitly notes "The Australian Society of Indexers (AusSI), later the Australian and New Zealand Society of Indexers (ANZSI), was the first society to award a web indexing prize or award to the best web site index submitted." so the 'citation needed' tag can be removed.[reply]
