plant pathogen

During my studies I got in contact with A.pullulans but not as a plant pathogen, but as an organism widely used in biotechnology for example for the production of pullulan and enzymes (for example : Chi, Z. et al., 2009. Bioproducts from Aureobasidium pullulans, a biotechnologically important yeast. Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 82, 793-804)and even in biocontrol of plant diseases (for example: Wilson,C. and Chalutz, E., 1989. Postharvest biological control of Penicillium rots of citrus with antagonistic yeasts and bacteria. Scientia Horticulturae 40, 105-112). I do not want to mistrust the information that A. pullulans can also cause plant diesease but as it can be found in different environments e.g. in soil, water and as endo- or ephiphyte of a wide range of plants like grapes (Fleet, G. 2003. Yeast interactions and wine flavour. International Journal of Food Microbiology 86, 11-22) or apples (Andrews, J., 2002. Population biology of Aureobasdidium pullulans on apple leaf surfaces. Canadian Journal of Microbiology 48, 500-513)would it be better to describe it as an ubiqutious yeast instead of a plant pathogen? I would really like to contribute to the A.pullulans article but I'm just new an didn't want to do sth. wrong in just editing the article. (Roswitha Deutsch (talk) 17:48, 29 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]
