Talk:Atlanto-axial joint

Um, this article's opening statement does nothing to define what the Atlanto-axial joint is.
It describes that "it is complicated and has no less than four parts,"
but it does not even state clearly what part of the body this article is talking about.
DOES IT SAY ANYWEHERE THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SPINE?!?!
The word "SPINE" is used only ONCE in this entire article
and late in the article in reference to paralysis, but having nothing to do with the definition of what the atlantoaxial joint is.
It should be stated both in Anatomical/Kinesiological Terms AND LAYMEN TERMS!
Is it the first 2 vertebrae in the spine that connects to the SKull (or cranium)??
The opening statement should be a definition first stated clearly and understandably to all people not just doctors.
After the opening statement... THEN the descriptions,explanations,& details of the subject.
