If St. Catherine's College was completed in 1962, why was he working on it from 1964-66?

It is not particularly easy to state the precise period of time during which an architect worked on a project. The Danish version of Wikipedia indicates the appropriate year for St.Catherine's College, Oxford, as 1964. The explanation for such discrepancies may be as follows--The College opened for its first students in 1962. However, according to information published by the College, only a small number of the proposed buildings had, by then, reached a stage at which they could be used, and even they were not wholly finished. The same source states that construction, in accordance with the plans of Jacobsen, continued until 1968. This would suggest to me that the date and period of time indicated in the main article is reasonable and appropriate.CtznofRvna (talk) 04:54, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Today, Arne Jacobsen is remembered primarily for his furniture designs. However, he believed he was first and foremost an architect. According to Scott Poole, a professor at Virginia Tech, Arne Jacobsen never used the word, notoriously disliking it.

Coverage of Arne Jacobsen

Although he is one of Denmark's most successful modern architects, coverage of Arne Jacobsen's projects in the English Wikipedia is at best fragmentary. As I intend to work on the architectural aspects of his oeuvre over the next few weeks, I would much appreciate any assistance and/or advice. A number of articles requiring attention can be found under Category:Arne Jacobsen buildings, many others will have to be written from scratch. A complete list of Jacobsen's projects can be found here. As a start, it would be useful to have feedback on which deserve priority treatment. The addition of a Literature section to the Arne Jacobsen article would also be useful. - Ipigott (talk) 10:24, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In Denmark I guess it would be the National Bank, SAS Royal Hotel, Aarhus City Hall and the Munkegaard School is also quite famous in Denmark and has been quite influential plus Dorte Mandrup's expansion is considered quite succesfyl. Of his residential projects I guess Bellavista is has most well-known and then the Søholm terraces because he lived there himself. And then St. Catgerine's College in England obviously, not sire about his works in Germany. If you are also interested in inproving his biographical article and find it easier and more rewarding to start from scratch instead of working on the existing article, don't hesitate to do so. As you know, since you were kind enough to copy-edit it for me, the existing article is pretty much something I cooked up in a sandbox, and I will only be happy to see it replaced with something better. I will be happy to assist if there is something I can do but am not sure how much I can contribute with. But I can start uploading better images of his works from Flicker, no need for you to waste your time on that (won't be able to do so until Sunday though. Without knowing much about Jacobsen, seems that most of the key buildings already have articles. One I miss is the Bellavista housing, as housing is quite relevant for functionalism. There are Danish and Norvegian Wiki stubs, a collection of images on Commons plus more free images on Flickr. --Elekhh (talk) 20:38, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for these suggestions. I agree that Bellavista certainly needs to be covered. There are also a number of other interesting housing developments which are not given much attention anywhere but seem quite relevant. Maybe the key buildings are already mentioned in articles but often there is not much more than a word to say Jacobsen was the architect. There seem to be a number of interesting books but I am no longer in Denmark and it will be difficult to get them through libraries in Luxembourg - so I'll just have to wait.
