I decided to propose the deletion of this page: This article is a primary source. First invented a term not supported by any reputable reference, and then build an article from it poor. Failed to provide references for any of the assumptions on which it is based, and only brings the section on sources primarias.Para Argentina, speaks only of a general statement of the Third Army Corps during the dictatorship, Luciano Benjamin Menendez. Ditto for the sections of Peru and Korea, where specific events take referenced in newspapers, and from them is to endorse the existence of an "anti-Chilean sentiment" in these countries. The definition given of "anti-Chilean sentiment is that it is" a diverse range of prejudices, dislikes or fears about Chile, Chilean, or the culture of Chile. " Says who? Who said the "anti-Chilean sentiment" is that? Who said there was something called anti-Chilean and feeling worthy of being as a subject for an encyclopedia? " Then he argues that "the hostile rhetoric against Chile and Chileans have historically emanated from the political elite of the neighboring countries." References? Why so lightly says that the "political elite" of the neighboring countries of Chile's anti-Chilean? What do you mean by "political elite"? Same with the phrase that follows: "In the case of Argentina, the anti-Chilean sentiment emerged around 1900 due to border disputes with Chile, and the emergence of Chile as a regional power after the Pacific War." Who said "around 1900" came the "anti-Chilean sentiment" in Argentina and because of the "emergence of Chile as a regional power? That looks more like the vision of Chilean nationalists about themselves Is not intended to be endorsing the speech today in vogue in Chile as a power, and do an article apologetic and victimizing the style of "we are jealous and no one wants"? Then, without reference to another sentence: "A common argument in political discourse, (...) attributed underdevelopment of Bolivia to its loss of seaports" Who says that this is one common argument in the Bolivian political discourse? Why such argument would be anti-Chilean course? Nor are references derogatory references to the lexicon against the Chileans in Peru and Argentina, but this is the most grounded and salvageable from the article, and to rescue most appropriately included in another article as Xenophobia Xenophobia in Argentina and Peru. This page has references and Anti-_____ sentiment with anything filled in works even if it is not in the dictionary. Chilean is a word used to refer to things having to do with Chile. Neutrality and etimology of "Chilote"

This article is merely a copy-paste of "What Fanatic Chileans think about Anti-Chilean sentiment": it seems propaganda. Anti-Chilean sentiment exists, but it isn't a common attitude of "political elites of neighbor countries". IMO, POV is so obvious that this article should be deleted and re-started.

By the way, Argentinians use Chilote for scorn Chileans because Chilotes were the first well-known Chileans in Patagonia. Bye. 186.40.160.47 (talk) 19:51, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with both Likeminas and Andres. This page is not necessary. Despite Anti-Chilean sentiment does exist, there is simply not enough information to effectively create an article. Compare this page to Anti-Americanism, and the differences are quite evident.
Let's remember that throughout the world neighboring countries generally don't like each other. In this sense, there exists HUNDREDS of "Anti-X" possibilities. This falls in the same note as those bilateral relations articles (there are HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of options; however, only highly notable ones are allowed to be articles).
Analyzing This Article
  • The introduction has no references, despite it has exceptional claims.
  • The body of the article does not justify anything in the introduction.
  • The "examples" section goes against Wikipedia:Content forking. This information can be and is better found (and, if it's not, it should be) at the respective Chile-Peru relations and Chile-Argentina relations articles.
If it exists, why delete it?
Given the highly controversial topic, it should have reliable references supporting the material. Obviously, this article does not hold the reliable references needed. Hence, it breaks the Wikipedia:Verifiability rule. Additionally, by being so obviously one-sided on the subject, the article breaks the WP:NPOV pillar.
Also, remember the example of the "bilaterial relations of x and y" articles that faced massive deletion due to their lack of notability (determined by reliable sources). This same situation happens with this article. No sources actually support any of the introductory claims of "anti-Chilean sentiment".

Donayre Speech not example of "Anti-Chilean sentiment"

The Donayre speech used to suggest "Anti-Chilean sentiment" is incorrectly being used in this article. Reasons:

  1. The speech caused a diplomatic controversy between Peru and Chile. The diplomatic problem concerned whether the General would retire his duties as Peruvian law states, or whether the president would force his resignation as a result of his comments. Hence, it makes sense to include it in the Chile-Peru relations article.
  2. Donayre's speech concerns what would be done to Chilean invaders if they were to attack Peru during a war. At no point during the speech does he insult the Chilean nation or its people.
  3. The information in this article is mostly a copy-paste from the Chile-Peru relations article, which as stated in point 1 is correctly using this information as it caused a diplomatic problem between both nations.
  4. In comparisson to the other example used (from an Argentinean), Donayre's speech does not even mention anything in regards to Peru invading Chile.

Perhaps Chileans concider the Peruvian General's speech as "Anti-Chilean", but this POV is neither correct or verifiable. As such, the information will be removed.--MarshalN20 | Talk 16:35, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok article survived PROD.

At this point I think that rather than argue for its deletion we might as well improve it and keep it. The article needs a major overhaul in terms of tone and sourcing. I might get to work on the latter when I find some free time. Meanwhile, I'll get rid of the excessive in-line [citation needed] tags and add a template on the top, in order to improve readability. It sounds like a good plan. However, so far the article still only has links to definitions (roto and chilote) and now only a couple of examples. The Argentine example is somewhat solid, but if the article seeks to argue the existance of historical anti-Chilean sentiment, some more information prior to the mid-to-late 20th century is needed for Argentina. The US example is weak for this article, but it would be strong in an article dealing with immigration. I'll post some sources for this if I find any. the english in this article is awful, does the author have any intelligence??????

In addition to questioning the intelligence of the author i propose changing the name of this article to "Chiliaphobia" (from Latin Chilia "Chile" + Greek φόβος -phobos, "fear"). The "term anit-chilean sentiment" sounds to simple and using the appropriate latin+greek naming convention will add more intelligence and science. Believe me I question the value of this article, would you call it "information" or "propaganda"? Argentine claims

To be fair on chile, the argentine dictator stated that if the war against england was won then Argentina would've invaded chile to pursure their claims on the islands south of the beagle channel. can this fact be somehow added to the article?????--MarceloPR (talk) 09:42, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Peruvian Politics

I aim to improve this section in the future, at the moment I added a basic summary of anti-Chilean elements in Peruvian politics WHICH does exist. In the future I will add anti-Chilean elements in Peruvian Popular culture, and trust me its NOT hard to find. One editor keeps deleting this section because he or she thinks that comments made by the president of Peru directed towards chile is only demonstrating Nationalism(chauvinism) which quite frankly is an attempt to trivialise this topic. i put the tag in because this article for some reason doesn't distinguish between nationalism and bigotry in relation to anti-Chilean sentient. furthermore its quite clear that "anti-chilean terminology" is pretty much using generic words to describe chileans. I've personally checked these terms in seven Spanish dictionaries and none of them mentioned that these words indicated some kind of anti-Chilean connotation. But they really feel insulted when Argentines refer to them as traitor, mainly for a widespread feeling of betrayal that they felt while Chile offered support to United Kingdom during the Falklands War in 1982.[citation needed]
