Odoodemimazininii

Instead of a large photograph of each of the doodem representatives, it might be wise to show the typical odoodemimazininii used on contemporary and past doodem markers on grave sites as well as the treaty signatories' odoodemimazininii. CJLippert 15:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kinship

I have just added a link to Rand's site that serves as an intro to kinship terms with how they relate to doodem. Since "a picture's worth a thousand words" in the next several weeks, I'll put together a graphic in the manner of the kinship system charts based on Rand's graphics. Waabizheshi misinformation

It is patently false that the "Waabizheshi clan is also used to denote a form of adoption, i.e., a non-native father and Ojibwe mother." This is a lie that is being spread by several people falsely representing themselves as Ojibwe in order to swindle people out of their money. You are born into a clan and must have a legitimate blood connection. There is no clan for "adopted" people. The practice if virtually unheard of among the Ojibwe. There is no ceremony of process in any Ojibwe Nation, tribe or band to give non-Indians a clan. The only clan they would be given is the "snipe clan" and this is derogatory. I believe the rumor was started by an individual who was hanging around an Ojibwe language board trying to pick up clues about the Ojibwe so he could produce another literary fraud and cash in on the popularity of American Indian literature.

Informative Article but slightly confusing

I really enjoyed evaluating this article but some of the content is not coherent, e.g. The origins of the Clans where giving to the Getay-Anishinawbeg after the cleansing of the Earth by water. As the memory of people had been wiped clean. Anishinaabe Toodaims: is the social fabric context for politics, kinship, and identity of the Anishinawbeg peoples.
