Place of birth

The reference quoted for his parents indicates that he was born in Hull rather than London. Is there any reference for a birth in London? Keith D (talk) 00:31, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

History Channel

As I am typing this right now, I am watching a movie of some sort on the History Channel on NASA's moon landing, and Andrew Lincoln plays a man named Mike. Please find this and add it. Thanks.

Trivia

Please stop adding trivia to the biography of a person. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information per WP:INDISCRIMINATE and WP:NOTDIARY. All information added should have good sources, avoid third-rate sources like whatculture.com. The information should be note-worthy - an English person having an English accent is not note-worthy, neither is cooking for friends, nor who he is friends with. Obviously, "trivia" is a subjective word. On other celebrities' articles, listing close friendships and the other info which you call trivia have been permitted. Do you actually understand the rules? I put this section on for discussion before you reverted it, so why are quoting rules you are breaking? My points have already been made, you are supposed to reply to them first. Please answer the points I made - i.e. poor source, indiscriminate information (e.g. English person born and bred actually has an English accent or that an actor can use other accents isn't at all noteworthy). Yep, I understand the rules, but it is you who drew first blood by making edits without first discussing them. It is you who broke the rules. The referenced source is not "poor" just because you say it is. Is it blacklisted on a Wiki list? If so, feel free to delete all of the entries extracted from it. Also, where is it stated in any Wiki policy that an actor's accent is not noteworthy? No, you reverted and saying it should be discussed in the talk page, and told me to go the talk page when it is something I have already done. You are supposed to discuss it first, yet you simply ignored the discussion, using a warning to sidestep your own obligation to discuss. Again, do answer, why are you breaking rules you are citing? Also read up on WP:RS and you'd find that reliable sources that sources that has a reputation for accuracy and fact-checking. You site is no more than a site that compiled various bits of information without any evidence it had checked any information. Nope, your reverted contributions which had been there for some time. You were wrong to do that before first discussing the changes. I did read the cited guidelines and now agree with your reasoning. The source, while not specifically blacklisted, is shaky at best. There is no need to discuss every single edit, where do you get the idea you need to do that? Did you discuss every edit and revert you made? Why do you think you can dictate what others do when it is something you don't do yourself, and telling other people about rules you freely broke? Why do you say that the edits were there for some time when there were there only a week or so? If you have better sources, then by all means use them, but avoid using website that scavenges for trivia. I now agree that what you call trivia should not appear in Wiki only because it is not listed in the article of any major celebrity whose article I have scanned. But it is you who had made edits without clearing them first. Really, everything that has been discussed here so far has been addressed in Wikipedia's policy WP:BLP. It explicitly states to avoid trivia sections and recommends the swift removal without discussion of any contentious material that is unsourced or poorly sourced. Specifically, it describes the best way to handle gossip-like material (WP:BLPGOSSIP) by asking yourself that even if a claim is true, is it really that relevant to the understanding of the subject. If the answer is not a clear yes, then it should probably be left out. Hope this helps bring some closure to the discussion. --GoneIn60 (talk) 14:40, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Birth name/stage name

I've heard that UK actors looking to work in the US and join SAG AFTRA have to take their stage name as their legal name, most notably this happened to David Tennant. Do we know if this is the case with Lincoln? If not, why? -- HughMorris15 (talk) 11:44, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary linking

Is it really necessary to link to the civil engineering wiki because his father was a civil engineer, or to nursing in South Africa because his mother was a nurse there? These things seem very unrelated to the article.
