Liaoningovenator belongs here
In the phylogenetic section of the Liaoningovenator paper, Shen et al. (2017) found it to be the sister taxon to Eosinopteryx. Even though the paper does not identify this clade as Anchiornithinae, the branch of the troodontid tree does also include Anchiornis and Xiaotingia. Below is from the troodontid article:
Shen et al. (2017a) explored troodontid phylogeny using a modified version of the Tsuihiji et al. (2014) analysis.[1] It was in turn based on data published by Gao et al. (2012), a slightly modified version of the Xu et al. (2011) analysis[2], focusing on advanced troodontids. A simplified version is shown below.[3]
These animals were placed in a clade by Xu et al. (2016) – admittedly they did not assigned them to any family. If Liaoningovenator was found to be part of the Anchiornithinae section of Troodontidae, I do not understand why this genus is being removed.--4444hhhh (talk) 01:07, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this article should even exist. Sure, it's recovered as a clade in some phylogenies, but Anchiornithidae is not registered in Zoobank, nor is there a proper diagnosis for it. Lythronaxargestes (talk) 22:00, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
