Etymology

Added etymology from the Cashew article. Not sure if it's correct, as sources both differ and conflict in the etymology of anacardium. Ana- sometimes meaning "without", other times "upwards".

  • "the fruit of this plant being thought to resemble the heart of a bird" [1]
  • "from the heartlike shape of the top of the fruit stem" [2]
  • "referring to how the pulp of the fruit has the nut growing outside of it rather than inside" [3]
  • "refers to the shape of the fruit, which looks like an inverted heart" [4]
  • "because the pulp of the fruit, instead of having the seed enclosed, has the nut growing out at the end of it"[5]
