The image doesn't appear to show ammonium nitrite, but looks more like [NH

Agreed. Also, the toxicological citation does not seem to agree with the text. I reckon that this article is untrustworthy. JonRichfield (talk) 16:31, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
Appearance
