Notable for one thing

Detrich seems to be only notable because he was fired for editing his photos, in violation of the rules for news photographers. He was not and is not notable for being a photographer. The article says nothing about his photographs, just about him being fired. Borock (talk) 13:04, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I've proposed it for deletion. -- ChrisO (talk) 19:17, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I don't see how a liar to a minor paper is notable enough for here. 216.30.182.60 (talk) 18:41, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. The paper he worked for may qualify as "minor," that being a relative term, but his acts are notable for their scope and brazenness. He was a runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize in 1998, which automatically puts him in a select group of photojournalists. He also won the Ohio News Photographers Association Photographer of the Year in 1991 and 1993. Adnan Hajj and Brian Walski were both fired for similar actions on a much smaller scale, yet both have Wikipedia articles that are not in dispute, and they don't have the credentials that Detrich did.
