Notable PRs

Please do not add your name to the list of Notable PRs simply because you are a LPO or chief. The persons listed should have accomplishments that reach far beyond their billet description. Obviously, life saving is a notable profession in itself, which is why I worked very hard to improve this article from one paragraph to what you see today. The section is there for those who have set themselves apart from the rest of the PR community by acts of heroism, patriotism, community service, or have become a public figure. - PR

Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters

US Navy titles and job ratings that have compound words are always capitalized in official documents. For Wiki articles the Wikipedia Manual of Style/Titles of people also confirms this. The inclusion of (PR) is due to the the full rating name being changed from Parachute Rigger to Aircrew Survival Equipmentman (PR), but still being used as an official rating abbreviation of the United States Navy. (Example: The abbreviated title of an Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 1st Class Petty Officer would be PR1.)

Excerpt from Wikipedia Manual of Style

When an unhyphenated compound title such as vice president or chief executive officer is capitalized (unless this is simply because it begins a sentence), each word begins with a capital letter. 04:29, 1 September 2013‎ User:Topbookclub

Official documents have no bearing here. The manual of style lays down how Wikipedia's house style capitalises words, and it makes quite clear the job titles and ranks are only capitalised when used as part of a name (eg "the general ordered the attack" but "General Smith ordered the attack"). The abbreviation has no place in the name - see WP:NATURAL for an explanation of why Aircrew survival equipmentman is a sufficiently full article name. Further, please note that your proposed article name did not survive first contact with the technical move request for both these good reasons. Shem (talk) 21:17, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Claiming that official documents have no bearing on Wikipedia articles is like saying that references must be avoided at all costs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.192.72.91 (talk) 11:42, 19 June 2015 (UTC) [reply]

Unrelated topics

The Leap Frogs aren't aircrew survival equipmentmen, and the parachutist insignia aren't for maintain equipment, but for performing parachute jumps. I'm not even sure that the Navy & Marine Corps Parachutist badge is used by aircrew survival equipmentmen any more. I propose that the unrelated topics are removed.
