I'd have said, yes, it's the primary topic. At least it has a citation to back it up; neither of the other articles linked from the dab page even mention it as possible alternative name for the animals they refer to, and there's no citation at the dab page itself, either. Ictidomys tridecemlineatus is more commonly known as the "thirteen-lined ground squirrel", so that's unlikely to be the primary topic (although ghits do imply it's a common alternative meaning in the US). Both citations currently in this article use "striped ground squirrel" for this species alone, and give different names for I. tridecemlineatus. Google searches imply that, to the extent that Lariscus even has a common name, it's either "Asian striped ground squirrel" or "Malaysian ground squirrel", neither of which is quite the same. I can't find any evidence whatever that "striped ground squirrel", without the "Asian" qualifier, is really an alternative name for that. Anaxial (talk) 21:51, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose It's unfortunate that a common name won't fit here, but given the available evidence, it's ambiguous whether a reader searching for "Striped ground squirrel" wants this species in particular or the group described at Lariscus. Although for what it's worth, the thirteen-lined ground squirrel seems like a spurious inclusion on the dab, so perhaps this could be a WP:TWODABS situation. --BDD (talk) 19:56, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Google Scholar hits imply that Ictidomys tridecemlineatus is quite commonly called the "striped ground squirrel"—and also that this species is very commonly called just Xerus erythropus. Ucucha (talk) 11:33, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
