Hoax ?

Marked as a possible hoax - but there is probably simply confusion about spelling.

Spelling

The ASC Ms C for 924 says

The trusty Blackwell Encyclopedia of Anglo-Saxon England says (under Æthelstan)

Presumably it should be moved to Ælfweard. Angus McLellan (Talk) 10:13, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ælfweard of Wessex would seem appropriate. I've always understood Athelstan to be the first real "King of England"... john k 18:01, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate

Is there a source for the 904 birthdate? The infobox says his birth year is unknown; LC does not have a heading for him in the authority file.--FeanorStar7 21:09, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
