Santo Krishnan
Santo Krishnan, originally named Krishnan Nair, (12 May 1920 – 6 July 2013) born in Ottapalam was an Indian athlete and stuntsman.[1] He appeared in more than 1000 films in Malayalam, Tamil, Sinhala, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English. He died on 6 July 2013.[2]
Career and personal life
Krishnan Nair, commonly known as Krishnan, was a prominent weightlifter and wrestler who also made his mark in the Tamil movie industry. He gained recognition with his debut in the film "Mahaveera Bhiman" in 1935. Throughout his career, Krishnan showcased his talents and garnered a strong fan base.
In his personal life, Krishnan was married to Kochukutty Amma. Unfortunately, his wife passed away in 2012, and the couple did not have any children. During his last years, Krishnan found companionship and support from his neighbor Haneefa and his family. Haneefa and Krishnan shared a close bond akin to that of a father and son. To ensure Krishnan's comfort, he even constructed a dedicated bedroom within his own property to care for him.
Krishnan's contributions to weightlifting, wrestling, and the Tamil film industry left a lasting legacy. His talent and dedication continue to inspire aspiring athletes and actors to this day.
Death
Krishnan died on 6 July 2013 at Lakkidi, India.[3] The cause of death was a bout of sickness he had encountered during the weeks leading to his death.[4] He was aged 93 and was cremated near his home.[5]
