WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   07:42, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why does Punjab Portal map includes Himachal Pradesh & Haryana?

I would like to know the reason behind this. People of Himachal Pradesh & Haryana have distinct identities & wouldn't refer to themselves as Punjabi. While it is understandable that the map includes Indian Punjab & Pakistan's Punjab, Himachal & Haryana shouldn't be part of it. A major part of Himachal was never even part of Punjab during British time (they were simply Princely states). That map doesn't represents past nor does it represent current sentiments of the people. It only represents wrong understanding or some fantasy. I strongly oppose this & request an immediate removal of that map. If ignored (which has a high chance) I will be trying out other methods, as in calling other people to discuss this. Nik9hil (talk) 07:56, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Nik9hil: Are you referring to the Clickable map by territory in the portal, or a map that appears in the General images section? North America1000 08:22, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Northamerica1000: Thanks for replying. I am referring to the the clickable map that is present as template in different pages that have topics related to Punjab. That map is white in colour & includes present day India: Punjab, Haryana & Himachal Pradesh & Pakistan: Punjab. Nik9hil (talk) 08:31, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Nik9hil: I went ahead and removed the clickable map. I'm not a Punjab expert, and am not versed in the finer points of the regional factors there, so from my standpoint, its removal is warranted per your concerns. Removal of the map also was not a big loss to the portal. North America1000 09:47, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Northamerica1000:, I am happy that you responded to my concerns in the right spirit. Thank you. Nik9hil (talk) 09:52, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
