Selection of pictures

First task here: Fill up the empty spots! Add any good car photos you can find. But try to have a decent mix of car brands, car types, ages of cars.

When all the 31 days are taken, then we'll go for quality. That is replacing mediocre pictures with better pictures, and then replacing better pictures with excellent pictures, until we have the best car pictures avaliable. The format I've used for these pictures is:

Current statistics

Now that all 31 days are filled, here is the current breakdown

  • 1 European sportscar
  • 1 American truck
  • 1 American modern luxury car
  • 1 Asian luxury SUV
  • 2 Supercars
  • 2 American antiques
  • 3 Asian sportscars
  • 4 European classics
  • 4 European modern economy/luxury cars
  • 5 Asian economy/luxury cars
  • 7 American classics

Notable categories of car that are currently not represented: American economy, Asian truck, American SUV, Classic truck (any nationality), Van/Minivan (any nationality), Australian ute, Modern American sportscar.

Also, I'd like to get a consensus on if we want modified cars or race cars in this group. -Drdisque 07:52, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For me a "selected picture" should be a car picture of high quality. If you find high quality pictures of modified cars and of race cars, please include them! In my opinion the priorities should be (in that order):
  1. High quality pictures
  2. Avoid multiple pictures of the same car model
  3. Good mix of car categories and brands
So far, I've added most of the pictures (29/31), and I haven't spent so many minutes on finding each photo, so I'm sure lots of them can be exchanged to better pictures. --Boivie 09:33, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also realized we had no Keicar/Microcars, so I added one of them. I do think trucks are under-represented and american classics are over-represented, so I'll try to replace some in that manner. -Drdisque 18:25, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New Images

I noticed that lots of the images featured in this article are from March. LetS replace with new images for the month of April. --Karrmann

I like the new pictures. But I don't think we should replace images just to have different images each month. I'd rather see that the objective for this page would be to gather the 31 best car pictures available. So we should always try to replace with better images, just like SFoskett are doing. I have found an absolutely great pic of the Jetta online and thought we need to have it as one of our featured ones. I took the liberty of placing it myself - since it is a modern car, I have replaced the Lexus ES 300 on the 17th, which has been revolving for quite some time now (and, frankly speaking, this was not the best-quality photo, lighting was rather poor and the background is not that beautiful).
If what I did was OK, I'd like to proceed with that - some photos really aren't that great (even if they portray rare subjects), and we need some change in the portal! Bravada, talk - 21:53, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
