Mul-T-Lock is an Israeli company that develops and sells padlocks, combination locks, and related security products. It was founded in 1973 by Moshe Dolev and Avraham Bahry[1] and is a subsidiary of Assa Abloy. Four years later, in 1977, Mul-T-Lock introduced the revolutionary telescopic pin technology and entered the cylinders market, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.

History

Yavne, Israel, headquarters of the company

Mul-T-Lock was established in 1973, a group of innovative thinkers set out to revolutionize the lock industry with the invention of the 4-way lock. In 1976, Its innovative lock design led to wider recognition when marketing efforts expanded internationally. As the company experienced growth, it expanded its manufacturing facilities.  [2]

1987 was a landmark year for Mul-T-Lock as it expanded its company portfolio and scaled globally, opening its first business unit in the United States and its second manufacturing plant in Israel. [3]

The following years brought continued success for Mul-T-Lock with the launch of the Interactive patented platform in 1992. Mul-T-Lock continued expanding its global reach with new European selling units and entry into the Asia Pacific market.

In 2000, Mul-T-Lock became part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, a global leader in access solutions. This shift further solidified Mul-T-Lock's position as a major player in the industry. The company continued to innovate and introduce new products, such as the MT5® + high-security premium cylinder platform and the KC5 key-cutting machine, which were launched in 2006. Its international presence continued growing with the expansion of its network of distributors and authorized locksmiths to over 80 countries.

In 2009, Mul-T-Lock introduced the SMARTair® access control system following the launch of CLIQ® - electromechanical locking solution.[4]

In 2020, Mul-T-Lock adopted a new scalable naming system for its advanced patented mechanical platforms to facilitate recognition amongst end-users, who would benefit from a better understanding of the hierarchy between the various mechanical platforms.  Consequently, each of the patented mechanical platforms was renamed, and the Mul-T-Lock brand was integrated and assigned a prominent role within each new name. The result was a clear, scalable structure. The display boxes were redesigned to reflect the rebranding changes.

In 2022, the company introduced the MTL™ CLIQ® GO, an access control system that supplemented the company's wide range of locksmith-friendly locking solutions.

In 2023 Mul-T-Lock celebrated its 50th anniversary, a testament to the company's enduring commitment to innovation and excellence.
