John Russell Walker

The Ven John Russell Walker , MA was an eminent [1] Anglican priest[2] in the last third of the 19th century.[3]

He was born in Bury on 18 June 1837[4] and educated at University College, Oxford.[5] He was ordained in 1863 and was Curate of Middleton[6] and then Walmersley.[7] The following year he married Augusta Margaret Hornby of Poole Hall, Nantwich.[8] He was appointed a Canon of Manchester Cathedral in 1870 [9] and then of Chichester in 1874.[10] In 1879 he became Archdeacon of Chichester,[11] dying in post [12] on 31 October 1887[13] after a short illness.[14]
