Jalon Kilgore is an American football defensive back for the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Early life and high school

Kilgore attended high school at Putnam County. Coming out of high school, Kilgore was rated as a three star recruit, the number 44 safety, and the 43rd best prospect in the State of Georgia in the class of 2023.[1] Kilgore also held offers from schools such as Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan and Tennessee Tech, South Carolina Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, Mississippi, Kentucky, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt.[2] Kilgore ultimately decided to commit to play college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks.[3][4]

College career

In Kilgore's first career game in week one of the 2023 season he notched 12 tackles versus North Carolina.[5] Kilgore finished his freshman season in 2023 notching 76 tackles with one and a half for a being for a loss, six pass deflections, an interception, and a forced fumble.[6] For his performance on the season, Kilgore was named a freshman all-American and was named to the SEC all freshman team.[7][8]

Personal life

Kilgore is the younger brother of Gerald Kilgore who is also a defensive back for South Carolina.[9]
