On 12 July 2024, a Sukhoi Superjet 100 operated by Gazpromavia operating as Gazpromavia Flight 9608 crashed during a ferry flight from Tretyakovo Airport to Vnukovo International Airport. All three crew members were killed.[2]

Aircraft

The aircraft involved in the accident was a Sukhoi Superjet 100 manufactured in 2014 and registered as RA-89049. On board the aircraft there was a crew of three, composed by pilot Evgeniy Bulavko, first officer Vladislav Kharlamov and flight attendant Maxim Lukmanov.[citation needed]

Accident

The plane was operating a ferry and test flight from Lukhovitsy after some maintenance. Three minutes after take off the plane made the last contact with the air traffic controller, and reached its maximum altitude of 1,600 metres (5,249 ft).[citation needed] After encountering an engine failure, the plane crashed 7 minutes after take off, about 80 kilometres (50 mi) south-east of its destination airport, near the city of Kolomna, in a woody area killing all three crew members on board.[3][4][5] According to Novaya Gazeta, the plane sent a distress signal and circled to burn fuel preparing to perform an emergency landing, before crashing.[6]

Investigation

According to the press agency RIA Novosti, an investigation will be open. Also police officers visited the factory where the plane underwent maintenance.[7]
