This page lists common and notable acronyms[a] that refer to or include the LGBT community or part of it.
List
- 2SLGBTQI+, with 2S standing for two-spirit[1]
- FTM or MTF, standing for female-to-male and male-to-female respectively. These terms are considered outdated. The more generally accepted term for FTM is transgender man or trans man; the more accepted term for MTF is transgender woman or trans woman.[2][3]
- GSA, standing for gay-straight alliance or genders and sexualities alliance.[4]
- GBT, referring to LGBT men[5]
- GLA, standing for gay and lesbian alliance[6][7]
- GLOW, standing for gay, lesbian, or whatever[8][9]
- GSRD, GSD, GSM, or GSRM, meaning gender, sexual, and romantic diversity or minority[10]
- LBT, referring to LGBT women[11]
- LGB, referring to LGBT sexual orientations,[12] recently adopted by groups opposing transgender rights[13]
- LGBT, standing for lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender
- LGBT+, with the plus sign including identities and experiences from groups not previously named[14]
- LGBTA, with A standing for asexuality, aromanticism, or agender.[15][16] Sometimes it mistakenly has been used for allies as a form of aspec erasure.[15][17][18]
- LGBTH, with H for HIV+[19]
- LGBTI, with I standing for intersex[20]
- LGBTIH, with H for hijra[21]
- LGBTQ, with Q standing for queer or questioning[22][23]
- LGBTQI, LGBTIQ, LGBTQI+, or LGBTIQ+, adding Q, I, and, sometimes, plus sign[24]
- LGBTQIA or LGBTQIA+, adding Q, I, A, and, sometimes, plus sign[25]
- LGBTQIAP+, with P standing for pansexuality[26]
- LGBTQIAPD+, with D for demisexual and demiromantic[27][28]
- LGBTQIAPK+, with K standing for kink[29][30][31]
- LGBTQIAPN+, with N standing for non-binary[32]
- LGBTQQICAPF2K+, with C, F, and K standing, respectively, for "curious", "friends and family", and "kink"[33][34]
- LGBTTT or LGBTTTIQ,[35][36] with TTT standing for transgender, transvestite, and transsexual[37][38]
- LGT or GLT, referring to monosexual or monoromantic LGBT people[39]
- MLM, slang for men loving men. Includes gay, bisexual, and pansexual men and attraction that is either sexual or romantic. It is sometimes used by non-binary people or used to refer to attraction to men and non-binary people.[40]
- MOGAI or MOGII, for marginalized orientations, gender alignments or identities, and intersex[41][42]
- NB, (sometimes said as enby) standing for non-binary, but can be confused for meaning non-Black[43][44]
- NBLNB, slang for non-binary loving non-binary.[40]
- PTP, standing for person with a transgender parent.[45]
- QTPOC, standing for queer and trans people of color.[45][46]
- QUILTBAG, with U standing for undefined, unlabeled, or unsure[47][48]
- SGL, standing for same-gender loving. This term is used by some in the black community to avoid identity terms considered Eurocentric.[49][45]
- SOGI, standing for sexual orientation and gender identity.[50]
- SOGIESC, standing for sexual orientation, gender identity and (gender) expression, and sex characteristics.[51][49]
- T4T, standing for trans for trans. It is used by transgender people desiring romantic, sexual, intimate or emotional partnership with other transgender people.[52][53]
- TGE, standing for trans and gender expansive[54][55]
- TGNC, standing for trans and gender nonconforming.[45]
- WLW, slang for women loving women. Similar to MLM, it includes bisexual women, pansexual women and lesbians and can be used by or to include non-binary people. It can refer to romantic or sexual attraction.[40]
