Onwuka Ugochukwu Richard (born 26 July 2000), known professionally as Funnybros, is a Nigerian comedian and content creator.[1][2]
Background and education
Funnybros was born in Aba City,[3] and hails from Amachi Nsulu in Isiala-Ngwa North, Abia State. He studies Computer Engineering at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture.[4]
Career and recognition
FunnyBros started creating skits in 2019.[5] In an interview with The Sun, he revealed that his passion for acting was ignited through his involvement in his church's drama group. He soon discovered his talent for comedic performances and began creating skits based on events around him.[1] Initially, it was challenging to capture people's attention, and he faced a lot of criticism when he started in the industry.[6] However, over time, his fan base steadily grew, and by 2021, his popularity surged as fans began widely sharing his work on social media, further boosting his rise to fame.[5] He has collaborated with fellow content creators like Mr Funny, Tunde Ednut, and OGB Recent, whom he cited as helping him reach a larger audience.[7]
Funnybros was nominated in the Best Male Skit Maker category of the Legit.ng Awards in 2022.[8] He was featured by The Netng as one of the "Top 10 Skit Makers To Look Out For In 2023."[9] Apart from creating content, he remixed Thank You Garri with OGB Recent in 2023.[10]
