Franklin Obeng-Odoom is an urban researcher and a professor. He is currently Professor of Global Development Studies at the University of Helsinki, Finland.[1] He previously taught at several universities in Australia.[2]

Obeng-Odoom is a member of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences and Academy of Social Sciences.[2]

Early life

Franklin Obeng-Odoom was born in Ghana, His grandfather was a post colonial judge and also worked as a choirmaster and organist in the Methodist Church. As a school boy Obeng-Odoom used to sell mixed crops at the local market while studying in a school. He completed his bachelor degree in land economy and went abroad for higher education.[3]

Obeng-Odoom is an Associate Editor of the Forum for Social Economics, Editor of African Review of Economics and Finance and Series Editor of Edinburgh Studies in Urban Political Economy.

He has published more than 20 articles on Ghana and political economy.
