Volcano group is a merger of militant activist for social justice and nature protection. Vulcano groups executed arson attacks against things since 2012 in Germany. In 2024 they caused a power outage and thus a production stop at Tesla factory Grünheide by burning down a relevant power pylon.

Group

Volcano group consists of people from autonomous groups as well as left-wing groups, which who organize themselves into militant actions against the destruction of nature and social injustice.

The Vulkan Group's predecessors were action groups for attacks on the railway network.

The name was given to Icelandic volcanoes, which can bring public life to a standstill with their unbridled power - despite all technological progress. In three attacks in 2011 and 2013, the perpetrators referred to the volcanoes Eyjafjallajökull, Hekla and Grimsvötn in their letters of responsibility.[1]

The Volcano Group is classified as "left-wing extremist" by the German State Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Brandenburg.[2][3]

Berlin S-Bahn 2019

On September 28, 2019, around 3:30 a.m., fire was started in cable shafts between the Berlin S-Bahn stations Karlshorst and Wuhlheide. S-Bahn and regional train traffic was paralyzed between Ostkreuz and Erkner.[4]

The action was carried out by the “Vulkangruppe OK” to support the aims of Friday for Future climate movement.

Tesla 2021

In 2021 there were six high-voltage cables set in fire near the site of Tesla factory Grünheide, while the factory was still under construction.[2]

The Vulkan group is also suspected to be behind this attack.[5]

Tesla 2024

On March 5, 2024, a power pylon and the associated 100kV substation located in eastern Brandenburg near Berlin burned. This caused a power outage and thus a production stop at Tesla factory.[5] "Vulcano group Switch-off Tesla" claimed to be the attacker.[6]

The damage is estimated at more than ten million euros.[2] The Tesla factory has an electricity output requirement of 72 MW, which is drawn entirely from the public power grid. Tesla does not have any internal backup power supply.

"With our sabotage, we set ourselves the goal of achieving the largest possible blackout of the Tesla gigafactory, the group published on Indymedia."... Tesla "eats land, resources, men, labor and to do so spits out 6,000 SUVs, killing machines and monster trucks per week."[2]
