Toju Shojobi (née Olowofoyeku) (born July 13, 1988) is an Avant Garde fashion designer of Nigerian descent. She has partnered with many public figures from South Africa including South African First Lady Bongi Ngema-Zuma, Nomzamo Mbatha and Style Icon Bonang Matheba. She has also worked with celebrities such as Tiwa Savage, Betty Irabor and Agbani Darego. Olowofoyeku launched Toju Foyeh, her eponymous brand in 2010. A graduate of Istituto Marangoni Milan, Italy with a diploma in Fashion Design, Toluwaloju also holds a Bachelors of Law (LLB) degree from the University of Reading, England, a Masters in Intellectual Property Law (LLM) from the University of Manchester, and is a Barrister at Law (BL, Nigeria). She branched into Bridal wear with her Jemima Bridals by TF in 2016. She was responsible for the Bridal Train of Kemi Adetiba's Engagement and Civil Wedding.[1] .
Early life
Toluwaloju Olowofoyeku was born on July 13, 1988, in Lagos, Nigeria, the daughter of an architect Ayotunde Olowwofoyeku and a Banker Funmilola (née Osunsade).She spent her early life in the suburbs of Lagos, Nigeria, in Gbagada. At a tender age, she fantasized about dressing up Barbie dolls and at the age of 13 she created bead necklaces, attempting to sell them to close family members for use as gifts. She gave her mother advice on her hair and shoes. Her family moved to the highbrow areas of Ikoyi, Lagos, when she was 11. She was admitted into the prestigious Grange School, Ikeja after completing her primary education at Greensprings School, Lagos, Nigeria and then relocated to England for her Higher Education in 2003. While in England she attended Queenswood School for her A-Levels and afterwards got admitted into The University of Reading from which she graduated in 2009 with a bachelor's Degree in Law.
After securing a Masters Degree in Law from The University of Manchester on the obligatory counsel of her mother, Toju, then still In her early 20's was allowed to enroll at Istituto Marangoni, in Milan where she honed her lifelong passion for fashion design.
Fashion career
Early career
Toju Foyeh launched her first collection in Lagos, Nigeria at the Arise Fashion Week in December 2010[2]. She has graced magazine covers such as; Thisday Style[3], FAB magazine and has dressed A-list West African celebrities and VIP's including the First Lady of South Africa[4], and more.
Personal life
Toju Foyeh has two siblings. Her Permanent residence is Lagos State where she operates the Toju Foyeh Brand.
Public image and legacy
Toju Olowofoyeku has appeared on a number of magazine covers such as Exquisite Magazine[5], The Entrepreneur Africa[6] and within several magazines.
While Toju Foyeh was in a high school relationship for many years, she "continue[d] to promote herself with a mature and advanced yet youthfully charged image". She is known for a sexy yet grown up wardrobe, making non-provocative statements, and securing a venerable demographic. Her style can be summarized to incorporate the Yoruba tradition of itutu
In popular culture
Adesua Etomi remains a regular patron of Toju Foyeh and is typically seen donning the brand at events[7]
In September 2013, Afro artist Tiwa Savage, who among others such as Adesua Etomi[8], Agbani Darego, Betty Irabor and Osas Ajibade are clients of Toju Foyeh, released the song "Ileke"[9] as a single from her album Once upon a time where Toju Foyeh was referenced.
