    Susan E. Mazer is an American author, researcher, speaker and musician who is widely known as the CEO of Healing HealthCare Systems, Inc.(The C.A.R.E. Channel).[1]

    Early life and education

    Susan was born in Detroit, Michigan, where she later attended Cass Technical High School and developed a keen interest in classical music from an early age. Afterwards, she went to Wayne State University and earned her bachelor's degree in music in 1968. Then she attended Stanford University and earned her Master's degree in music in 1970. In 2011, she earned her Ph.D in Human and Organizational Development from Fielding Graduate University.[2]

    Career

    Susan started her career as a jazz harpist, performing in San Francisco, CA, and Lake Tahoe, NV.[3][4] In 1992, she co-founded Healing HealthCare Systems, Inc., where she initiated the C.A.R.E. Channel (Continuous Ambient Relaxation Environment) aimed at providing calm and comfort patients and their families. She sold her company in 2021 but continues to work as its CEO.[5]

    Susan is a published author and has dedicated her career to improving healthcare environments.[6][7] Through her extensive research and advocacy, she champions initiatives focused on patient privacy, environmental impact on outcomes, and substance abuse prevention.[8][9] In her books, she emphasizes nurturing patient well-being alongside medical treatment. She has collaborated with Watson Caring Science Institute and HeartMath, to advance a heart-focused model of care grounded in compassion and the Caritas Processes.[10][11]

    For the academic year 2012-2013, she taught at Saybrook University, instructing on methods for understanding healthcare systems and the factors influencing change within them.[12]
