Pūrva Phalgunī (Devanagari:पूर्व फालगुनी), also known as Pooram in Tamil and Malayalam (Tamil: பூரம், Malayalam: പൂരം), the eleventh nakshatra in Hindu astronomy, means 'the fertile one'. Purva Phalguni and Uttara Phalguni are twin nakshatras. Bhaga (God of Love and Luck) is the deity of Purva Phalguni nakshatra. The symbol of this nakshatra is a 'swinging hammock'.
Astrology
According to Indian astrology, the ruling planet of this nakshatra is planet Venus. This nakshatra is considered to be extremely lucky for anyone born in it and is considered to bestow wealth upon such natives and safeguard them from harm. Traditional names in Hindu culture are determined by which pada (quarter) of a nakshatra the Moon was in, at the time of birth. In the case of Purva Phalguni, the given name would begin with the following syllables:
- Mo (मू)
- Ta (टा)
- Ti (टी)
- Tu (टू)[1]
