Priya Rani Lama (Nepal: Priya Rani Lama) is a Nepali model, event choreographer, television presenter, actress and international beauty pageant title holder of Miss Cosmopolitan World 2019[1] held in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. She was also crowned first runner up of Miss Purwanchal 2010 held in Dharan.

Early life and education

Priya was born on 25 August in Janakpur where she grew up and completed her basic education. Later, she moved to Dharan, to complete her higher secondary education in science and also earned her Bachelors in Microbiology from Birendra Memorial College, Dharan affiliated to Tribhuvan University.

Career

Priya started her career as a runway model in 2008. Her Pageantry career took of from Miss Purwanchal 2010 where she was crowned First Runner Up. She had participated in Miss Nepal 2010 and 2015 where she won subsidiary title of Best Complexion. She had represented Nepal in international beauty pageants in Face of Beauty International 2018, India and Miss Cosmopolitan World 2019, Malaysia. She was TV presenter for Nepal1 TV, TV Today and Prime Times. She has also performed number of TV commercials. She is a reputed and leading pageant choreographer of her country, choreographing numerous beauty pageants both home and abroad. She is a dynamic moderator and event host. She has also performed as beauty pageant judge of various pageants both at national and international arenas. Her vast experience has earned her many national and international honors.[2][3]

Miss Cosmopolitan World

Nepal made its debut win in Miss Cosmopolitan World 2019 pageant as Priya Rani Lama was crowned Miss Cosmopolitan World 2019.[4] Priya prevailed over 31 contestants to win the international crown where she was crowned by Miss Cosmopolitan World 2018, So-yeon Lim from Korea. The finale was held at Marriott Putrajaya Hotel in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.

Apart from the winning title at the finale, she also stood as first runner-up in the Best Talent competition and also won the Best National Costume Title.[5]

Her victory was not only a personal achievement but also a significant moment for Nepal, showcasing the country's rich cultural heritage on an international platform. On 9th November 2023, she handed her crown to Rindsay Rachelle Laige from Malaysia.

Advocacy and philanthropy

Priya Rani Lama has been actively involved in various social causes. As Miss Cosmopolitan World 2019, she used her platform to advocate for underprivileged children education and women's empowerment. She had collaborated with numerous organizations to promote these causes. She was Goodwill Ambassador of Saksham Foundation Nepal, a NGO advocating for education of underprivileged dalit students of Sarlahi District. Her efforts includes raising awareness about the importance of education for underprivileged children and supporting initiatives for women's rights and empowerment.

Personal life

Priya Rani Lama continues to reside in Nepal, where she remains actively involved in her professional beauty pageant choreographer and coaching in addition to advocacy work and community projects. Currently, she is Brand Ambassador of Chitwan College of Cookery to promote Nepali cuisine.

In her capacity as Miss Cosmopolitan World, Priya has traveled to USA, Australia, India, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries.
