Oba Olakanmi Okoro Giesi was a 19th-century Yoruba monarch who, as Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, rebuilt and restored the town after a Fulani attack.[citation needed]

Early life

Oba Olakanmi Okoro Giesi was born in the Agbedegbede compound, Ipetumodu, a compound traced to the Agbedegbede compound of the Giesi ruling house in Ile-Ife.[1]

Ascension and reign

In the aftermath of the attack, a hero emerged in the form of Lafiani, also known as "Arakatampo pa Hukuhuku," who led the remaining Ipetumodu warriors to drive out the Fulani marauders. Following the defeat of the Fulani, Oba Olakanmi Okoro Giesi ascended to the throne as the new Apetumodu.[2]
