Maria Morris Hambourg is a writer, independent curator, and consultant. She is also the founder of the Department of Photographs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.[1] In her role, she brought international attention to Metropolitan's collection of photographs.[2]

In 1984, Hambourg was a visiting professor at Princeton University. In 1989, she was an adjunct associate professor at the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University.[3]

Education

In 1971, Hambourg graduated with her Bachelors at Wellesley College. She continued her studies at Columbia University where she completed her Ph.D on Atget.[4]
