Jeline Vandromme (born 16 November 2007) is a Belgian professional tennis player. She has a career-high ITF junior combined ranking of No. 11, achieved on 10 June 2024.
Early life
Jeline Vandromme is from Nieuwpoort, West Flanders, and lives in Sint-Kruis, Bruges.[1] She has a brother and a sister.[2] She studies Latin at the Sint-Andreaslyceum Sint-Kruis.[3][4]
Originally from a tennis-playing family, she began playing the sport at the age of five.[2] She began training at TC Middelkerke, before moving to TC Brughia. In 2023, she briefly trained at TC Tennis Vlaanderen in Wilrijk, but returned to Bruges after five months. Her half-sister, Justine Pysson, also played tennis professionally.[1] Her favorite tennis player is Aryna Sabalenka.[5]
Junior career
In August 2022, Vandromme made her ITF Juniors debut at the J30 Luxilon Summer Cup Tenkie Park in Hasselt, which she won as a qualifier.[6] Vandromme won three further J30 titles in 2022: the SBW-NET Junior Open in Kreuzlingen, the ITF Juniors Open in Esch-sur-Alzette, and the Herodotou Tennis Academy event in Larnaca.[7]
In January 2023, Vandromme won her first J60 title at the RTC ITF Junior event in Arlon.[8] Later that year, she reached the final of the J100 Head Cup in Bruchköbel, the semifinal of the J200 Dutch Junior Open in Castricum, and the quarterfinal of the Orange Bowl.[9][10] In September 2023, she won the 16 & Under Tennis European Junior Championships, and in November, she won the 16 & Under Tennis Europe Junior Masters in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.[11] She was the first Belgian player to win the Junior Masters since Kim Clijsters in 1997.[12]
In early 2024, Vandromme won two J300 titles: the Copa Barranquilla[13] and the Astrid Bowl in Charleroi-Marcinelle.[14][15] She also reached the final of the Memorial Eduardo Ferrero Trophy in Villena.[16] Following her victory in Charleroi, she made her junior Grand Slam debut at the French Open in both singles and doubles.[17] In singles, she reached the quarterfinals before losing to fourth seed Tyra Caterina Grant.[18][19]
Professional career
In August 2022, Vandromme qualified for her first ITF World Tennis Tour tournament at the $15k event in Fleurus, but lost in the first round to top seed Anastasia Sukhotina.[20] The following year, she reached the semifinal of the same tournament as a wildcard, upsetting third seed Chihiro Muramatsu and eighth seed Lian Tran in the process.[21]
