American Rapper (Born 2005)

Jataviaà Milàn Banks (born July 2nd, 2005), (Known professionally as Taviaà), is an American rapper and Model born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Banks first gained recognition on platforms such as Youtube, Tiktok, and Instagram in 2020 as she dropped her first single “Let It Blow.” Banks soon started modeling in 2021 for boutiques and small businesses in Houston, Texas. Then, Jataviaà started earning more recognition for her modeling and music talents after a video of her rapping in her dads Tyrese studio “FyeBeat” located in Atlanta, Georgia surfaced on the internet. The world began to see her talent again and she ended up getting record deals with Quality Control Inc. and Warner Bros. in 2023 where she went on to produce her first debut album “Miss Banks” which includes features from Boosie Badazz, Webbie, Youngboy Never Broke Again, Central Cee, and Saweetie.

Early Life

Jataviaà Milàn Banks was born in Fulton County in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 2nd, 2005, to Sheronda Johnson and Tyrese Banks. Most of Jataviaà’s childhood consisted of foster care and street activity due to what she was surrounded with growing up. Banks ended up being sentenced to Atlanta Youth Detention Center at the age of 12 on Assault charges for one year. After released in October of 2018, Jataviaà’s father Tyrese later died on December 3rd that year. Jataviaà once again was arrested in 2019 due to a connection in an Identity Fraud and Armed Robbery case. Later, charges were dropped against Banks due to the court not withholding enough evidence that proves Banks guilty. When released, Banks started her own business which included doing hair, lashes, and nails in Houston, Texas. Soon after, Jataviaà emancipated herself from her mother Sheronda at the age of 15 in 2020.

Career (Started in 2020)

In 2020, Banks released her first single “Let It Blow” which amassed over 26 million views on Youtube. She then went on to professionally starting her modeling career in 2021 by collaborating with small businesses and boutiques all across Houston, Texas. Banks got her first major modeling deal with Marc Jacobs which then lead on to deals with Telfar, Chanel, and Dior in 2022. Soon After, Banks shifted the focus off modeling after her music career gained more recognition in late 2022 which lead to her releasing her first debut album “Miss Banks” on January 5th, 2023, the album made it number 1 on the US Billboard 100 for 100 consecutive days making it the first album to ever do so and making it the first debut album to make it on the US Billboard 100. Songs on the album such as “Bad Bitch” featuring Boosie Badazz and Webbie, Big Mama, Band4Band featuring Central Cee, My Type featuring Saweetie, Whats That Speed ‘Bout featuring Youngboy Never Broke Again and, TGIF ended up giving her, her first spots on the Billboard Hot 100. She later became the youngest female rapper to have over 100 million album streams and the youngest female rapper to sell over 300 million album records worldwide in 2023. Banks was then invited to the 2023 BET awards she got the opportunity to perform and won the award for Best New Artist. Banks continued on to releasing 2 albums in 2024 including “Mother” released on May 2nd, 2024 which made it number 1 on the US Billboard 100 and the UK Billboard 100 and “Sincerely, Taviaà” released on June 29th, 2024 which not only made it number 1 on the US and UK Billboard 100s, but also made it number 1 on the Global Billboard 100. Banks also released 13 singles that all reached the Billboard Hot 100 ranging from singles at number 2 all the way through 20 throughout 2023-2024.
