Janne Nisonen is a Finnish violinist and conductor.[1]

Nisonen began his violin studies at the age of four in Kokkola and later advanced to the Sibelius Academy and the Edsberg Chamber Music Institute in Stockholm. At the Sibelius Academy, he also studied orchestral conducting under Hannu Lintu and Atso Almila. In 2016, he was appointed Chief Conductor of the Pori Sinfonietta for a two-year term. Nisonen has also conducted, among others, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra, and the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra.[1]

As a violinist, Nisonen has served as the first concertmaster of the Tapiola Sinfonietta[2] and has guest appeared as concertmaster with many other European orchestras. In 2008, he was involved in founding the Jousia Ensemble. He has made numerous recordings and regularly participated in international music festivals. His instrument is a 1751 violin by Nicolo Gagliano, lent to him by LähiTapiola. [1]
