GreyB Services Pvt. Ltd. is a research and analytics company headquartered in Singapore, operating in Mohali and Gurgaon, India. It conducts patent and technology landscape research for companies and law firms. GreyB was founded by Deepak Syal, Chakshu Kalra, and Avneet Bansal in 2008..[1]

GreyB was originally founded on June 26, 2006, by Deepak, Chakshu, and Avneet as Echo Mirror. The firm developed tools and technologies for companies in the intellectual property (IP) sector.[1]

Later, it relocated from Gurgaon to Chandigarh and was rebranded as GreyB in 2008, with its headquarters established in Singapore. The company later expanded its operations to Gurgaon and the United States.[2][1]

In 2009 GreyB received ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality management.[3]

In 2022, GreyB became a founding board member of the Global IP Alliance.[4]

Software and Services

GreyB provides in-house tools and innovation consulting services in various sectors, including telecommunications, pharma/biotech, semiconductors, medical devices, automobiles, networking, software, material science, chemicals, and consumer electronics.[5]

GreyB's proprietary tools include:

  • SLATE: A centralized patent data organization and analysis platform.
  • IDS Manager: A platform that partially automates the IDS filing process.
  • Elixir: A tool for tracking drug patent lifecycle.[6]
  • Spotter: An offline search engine for organizational data

GreyB's consulting services include:

  • Open Innovation: Technology scouting, product and technology roadmapping, technology and market research, startup scouting, and technology landscape analysis.[6]
  • Patent Search: System prior-art searches, freedom-to-operate searches, and validity/invalidity searches.[7]
  • Patent Landscape Analysis: Competitive landscape for collaborations and partnerships and to plan geographical business expansion using interactive dashboards.[8]

Partnerships and Collaboration

In July 2017, GreyB formed a strategic alliance with PatSnap, a global Intellectual Property Analytics company backed by Sequoia.[11]

In May 2019, GreyB released a patent trends study across 12 patent-intensive industries in collaboration with Kilpatrick Townsend, an American multinational law firm.[12]

GreyB also published a preliminary report containing a detailed 5G standard essential patents (SEP) analysis in cooperation with Amplified.[13] The report led to muliple news stories talking about participation of American and Chinese companies in 5G technology, Bloomberg[14], CNBC[15], IEEE[16], Telecoms[17]
