Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421 is an upcoming American thriller film directed by Paul Greengrass and written by Steve Kloves, based on the novel of the same name by T. J. Newman.

Development
On March 26, 2023, it was announced that Warner Bros. Pictures had acquired the film rights to the novel Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421 by T. J. Newman, with Shane Salerno serving as producer through The Story Factory and Newman serving as an executive producer.[1] Paul Greengrass was hired to write and direct the project on November 28.[2] On March 26, 2024, it was announced that Steve Kloves was set to adapt the novel, after Greengrass chose to direct The Lost Bus first.[3]
