Altenar Software Limited is a B2B provider of sports betting solutions and associated services to licensed B2C gambling operators[1]. Founded in 2011, the company specialises in providing front-end design and integrations for online and retail betting operators including data feeds, odds compilation, real-time data analytics, player account management, content management, risk management, licensing and compliance. Business operations are led from its headquarters in the Isle of Man, with a commercial office alongside regional offices in Greece and Uruguay. The company is a privately-owned, ISO 27001-certified[2] entity with a global client base.

History

Established in 2011, the company offers front-end design and integration services for online and retail betting operators, including data feeds, odds compilation, real-time data analytics, player account management, content management, risk management, licensing, and compliance.

With experience in the iGaming and software development sectors, founders John Spiteri, Antonis Karakousis, and Dinos Stranomitis developed a platform to address the various needs of iGaming operators globally.

In 2012, the company launched the first version of its sportsbook with real-time data integration and odds management capabilities. It attracted the attention of several gambling operators, resulting in various partnerships.

By 2016, Altenar had expanded[3],forming partnerships with larger operators in the global market. The company improved its platform capabilities in subsequent years, launching live betting features in 2017 and integrating data analytics and AI-driven features in 2019. To support its expanding client base, the company also opened new offices in key markets, including a major hub in Colombia, marking its entry into the Latin American market[4].

During the COVID lockdown years between 2020 and 2022, the company's client base spiked[5], reaching the significant milestone of 100 global clients in 2021. During this period, Altenar's growth[6] was notable in land-based betting regions, leading to adaptations in their offerings to accommodate the increase in online betting[7]. This led to further developments in live betting options and virtual sports betting in 2023, both of which are important for online betting operations. Having established a presence in European and Latin American markets, Altenar began expanding into Asian[8] and African markets[9], forming partnerships with local operators.

In the same year, Altenar relocated its headquarters to the Isle of Man[10], indicating its commitment to maintaining a strong position in the global iGaming industry[11].

The company provides "software-only" and “fully managed sports betting” products for online and land-based gambling operations. Clients for its turnkey[14] and white-label betting solutions include Betsson[15], Lottoland,[16] Soft2Bet, Apuesta Total,[17] Vegas.hu,[18] and Star Casino.[19] The company continues to enter new markets, focusing on innovation, scalable technology, and maintaining a strong industry reputation. Keeping pace with the expansion of the online gaming industry, Altenar experienced further growth in 2020 (130%) and 2021 (270%).[20][21]

Technical innovation and customized services have enabled Altenar to acquire new clients. The company's software supports various betting services, such as odds compilation, real-time data analytics, integrated PAM and CRM, API solutions, and risk management.[22] The platform aims to enhance operational efficiency for B2C gaming companies and ensure regulatory compliance in their operating jurisdictions. A stable infrastructure and dedicated account management support the expansion of sportsbook offerings to meet the evolving demands of sports bettors.

In 2023, Alternar entered a partnership with virtual sports provider Leap Gaming, followed by a partnership deal in 2024 with DATA.BET, a supplier of over 2,000 esports betting markets. Along with game proliferation, the company introduced new features to its sportsbook platform to provide additional insights for experienced bettors.[23]

In a press release, Altenar’s director of operations Antonis Karakousis commented: “We are pleased to bring all three of our new add-ons to market, offering our operator partners more ways than ever to engage bettors and empower them to make data-driven decisions.”[24]

Partnerships

Altenar has established partnerships and alliances with other iGaming companies, data providers, and regulatory bodies to expand its range of products and services in response to market demands. Integration with official data suppliers, including Betradar, IMG, Stats Perform, and Betgenius, secures real-time data feeds, odds, and live betting options.

In August 2015, Genii agreed to supply its portfolio of over 130 games with Altenar.[25]

In June 2021, Altenar integrated a new esports odds feed from Oddin.[26]

In July 2023, Altenar announced a strategic partnership with the micro-betting technology platform nVenue.[27]

Later in the same year, Altenar secured a collaboration deal with Pragmatic Solutions to integrate its smart Player Account Management (PAM) platform.[28]

Collaborations with technology providers such as Fast Track[29] and Simplify have brought advanced marketing automation and customer engagement tools to Altenar’s platform.

In June 2024, Altenar partnered with DATA.BET to enhance its eSports offering in 30 disciplines and over 2000 markets.[30]
